Vegan Tartar Sauce: now you can have your favorite in a plant based and gluten free way. I worked really hard to create not only one tartar sauce flavor, I created 4 and all delicious and dairy free. You want to put these on everything think salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, or sometimes you just wanna grab your spoon and eat it all up plain your way. That’s not a big deal you have so many flavors to choose from.
I don’t have to tell you that I love creating sauces. You know this well enough from Spicy Tahini Pasta Sauce or Avocado Pesto Pasta Sauce, for example.
This Vegan Tartar Sauce recipe is no exception.
You can be sure you get a really soft spot on all these amazing flavors they are: versatile, fresh, made to put these on everything, exciting, super easy, a time saver, comforting, creamy, mouthwatering and a must make for every occasion.
Let’s face it: traditional tartar sauce isn’t vegan. That’s not a big secret.
But when you can’t or won’t eat dairy, it’s not easy to find a good condiment. Of course you can buy a ready to eat sauce, but homemade is so much better and more delicious. Plus you know exactly what is in it.
How to make this delicious Vegan Tartar Sauce in 4 ways
The good new is that it is incredibly easy to make your own Vegan Tartar Sauce. And even better, when you can have so many flavor variations without any effort. I’ll give you four ways to make the sauce here: classic, parsley, dill, and mustard.
Trust me guys, the flavors are spot on. You will have a hard time to decide which flavor is the best. They all so good and so super easy: no need for a food processor or blender. We take vegenaise as a base, and then add spices, and other extras. Simple as that.
Back to the flavors I suggest to you. Those are my all-time favorite flavors here. They are true and tested, all delicious.
The exciting part is that every taste of these Vegan Tartar Sauce variations is different. I can guarantee if you serve these on a dinner party, potluck or anything else you will be the star of the show.
The Classic Flavor
This classic flavor is plain and simply delicious and a to go recipe for sure.
I add vegan Worchester sauce, a touch of lemon juice, and very finely diced onions.
It pairs well with anything: burgers, pasta or regular salads. I could imagine this might be excellent on a potato salad as well.
The Mustard Flavor
Who doesn’t love mustard sauce? We all love it for a good reason: it’s always yummy so for this Vegan Tartar Sauce it was a must for me to create a mustard version for all of you.
It’s infused with obviously mustard flavors and a sweet kick with subtile maple touches.
I’m sure that many of you know the combination from the mustard sauce I use for my all-star Vegan Lentil Burger.
This sauce pairs well with potatoes, yes think fries, chips, wedges. But burgers and wraps will work well, too. Comfort food right up your alley.
The Parsley Flavor
This is packed with incredible flavors from hot sauce, finely chopped parsley, capers and brine. So tasty and exciting.
It goes well with anything really, if you want your dishes to get a spicy kick.
The star ingredient in this version is the capers. They give so much flavor and of course the hot sauce gives it the right punch.
The Dill Flavor
This flavor wonder of Vegan Tartar Sauce is of course packed with freshly chopped dill. Add to that notes of garlic and of course finely chopped pickles.
For the right punch we use the juice from the pickles too. Which takes it seriously to the next level.
It pairs well to vegan fish cakes and burgers, but there is so much more. If you ever try it you won’t turn back and regret it.
One word to the veganaise: you can easily make it from cashews or other nuts. Or you are pretty lazy and you can buy one. Please whenever you can, make sure it’s organic so you know exactly the ingredients.
Also one word to the vegan Worcheseter sauce. Please make sure it’s really classified as vegan. Regular Worchester sauce is made from anchovies fish and you might miss that.
It’s so much fun to discover a variety of flavors. Just because it’s a sauce doesn’t mean you can’t have an exciting experiment. I mean you get a good variety, not only one flavor.
If you give these a try I know you will fall in love. I’m really excited to hear your feedback and thoughts about my Vegan Tartar Sauce.

See you soon and enjoy, Florian.
