If you know me a bit you know that tahini is something that I would probably eat any time and day. I made the best potato salad with it, my Hummus Potato Salad, or a bread from, like my Hummus Homemade Bread it is so good.
Tahini is a staple for me. I stored it in big batches at home. You see I used it a lot, not only for hummus or to make a tahini sauce.
I have to admit for me it is the same as you probably know with me and peanut butter. Both I could eat Tahini plain straight for the jar without any seasoning or something else and I’m happy, yum.
This Tahini Dressing is no exception. Once you whip everything together, you can’t stop eating it. I made a double or triple batch, just to have enough to eat it plain.
Seriously this is addictive friends, also: creamy, super easy, versatile, mouthwatering, a keeper not only for the tahini lover united like me.
It is so good you can make any bland and boring salad so special just by adding this tahini dressing.
What’s in this creamy tahini dressing:
- tahini
- vegenaise
- red vinegar
- garlic
Basically you need only 4 simple ingredients that you might already have in your pantry at home. Not counting water, salt and pepper.
How to make tahini dressing
In a bowl combine tahini, water, vegenaise, minced garlic, and red vinegar.
Season with salt and pepper according to taste. Whisk with a wire whisk until everything is well combined.
Store in the fridge in an airtight container with a lid. This way it will stay fresh for around 7 days. Or give it directly over your summer salads, pasta, or use it as an amazing vegetable dip.
Note: If you want the texture totally smooth, I suggest to add everything in a blender or food processor. Then process until smooth.
It makes such an amazing tahini sauce for dinner lunch, meal prep, working lunch to all lunch boxes, buddha bowls, sheet pan dinners and so much more.
Tips and variation
Note: any tahini from the store is different. Some are more liquid than others. So I would suggest you start with a small amount of water to thin. If you take too much from the start, the final result might turn out too runny.
Always adjust until you have the desired consistency and texture, which is for everyone individual.
Lemon tahini dressing: skip the red vinegar and use lemon juice to make a lemon tahini dressing, which has a lovely tang and refreshing flavor.
Maple tahini dressing: add 2 tsp of maple syrup to your tahini dressing and you have a maple tahini dressing in no time.
Falafel sauce: thin the dressing to the preferred texture. For this you can use water, almond or coconut yogurt. Also olive oil is great for this. Finally add 1 tsp cumin. Shake and devour this falafel sauce in no time.
