How to make a sweet chili sauce.

What is in sweet chili sauce

You will need 6 ingredients (not counting salt and pepper):

  • kecap manis (I used gluten free)
  • maple syrup
  • chili flakes
  • minced garlic
  • white vinegar
  • tapioca starch

How to make sweet chili sauce

In a sauce pan combine chili flakes, maple syrup, minced garlic, kecap manis, white vinegar, and tapioca starch (premixed with water). Season with salt and pepper and heat until the mix starts to simmer for around 4 minutes until it thickens.

Make sure to whisk constantly with an egg beater. Then, let cool a bit before using. It will stay fresh in glass jar with a lid for around 2 weeks.

Ideas for using this Thai sweet chili sauce

Sweet dipping sauce: use veggies or tortilla chips and enjoy munching them with this sauce as dip. It is so good and adds so much flavor.

  • 2 tbs maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tsp Chili flakes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup kecap manis (I used gf)
  • 2 tsp tapioca starch + 4 tsp water
  • salt, pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a sauce pan combine chili flakes, maple syrup, minced garlic, ketzap manis, white vinegar, and tapioca starch (premixed with water). Season with salt and pepper and heat until the mix starts to simmer for around 4 minutes until it thickens.
  2. Make sure to whisk constantly with an egg beater. Then, let cool a bit before using. It will stay fresh in glass jar with a lid for around 2 weeks.

Hi Annik! You can try to get it online. Otherwise use Soy or Tamari sauce and add more maple syrup. Hope that helps, let me know how it goes.
