This Stir Fry Sauce is the only easy recipe you will need for your broccoli stir fry, tofu stir fry, garlic noodles, or even to pimp up frozen mixed vegetables. Homemade, ready in under 5 minutes, and kids friendly this is truly the best stir fry sauce that the whole family will love.
I don’t know about you guys but whenever I made a stir fry, I was checking store-bought sauces and to me they all taste the same. Not really impressed. But of course such a sauce is something that makes meal prep ideas so easy and straightforward.
So this is why this stir fry sauce just happened. Because I was on the hunt for the best that you’ve ever made and tasted. Once you give it a try you know exactly what I mean.
You know I love my sauces. Mostly my pasta sauces like this Lemon Pasta Sauce or dipping sauces like this Thai Peanut Sauce with Basil. and so much more that makes your everyday cooking for everyday dishes so much better and even tastier.
This Stir Fry Sauce is no exception it is versatile, flavorful, homemade, needs under 5 minutes to make, uses my sweet chili sauce recipe, does not need any further sugar or sweetener, is budget friendly made with simply ingredients and a must make for any stir fry recipe.
What you need for this homemade sauce:
First you need my sweet chili sauce, with the ingredients:
- maple syrup
- kecap manis (I used gf)
- white vinegar
- tapioca starch
- garlic
- chili flakes
Of course you can use store bought sweet chili sauce, but I recommend to check the sweetness and if needed add little more sweetener to get the right flavor. I can only vouch for the right flavor when making this with my homemade recipe otherwise I don’t know about the sweetness and flavor.
For the stir fry sauce:
- tamari which is gluten free soy sauce
- sweet chili sauce
- garlic
- cornstarch + water to mix
- white vinegar
So you need 5 ingredients plus you don’t need any sweetener, because the sweet chili sauce will sweeten the sauce enough.
How to make stir fry sauce
Combine all ingredients like sweet chili sauce, minced garlic, tamari, mixed cornstarch + water in a small sauce pan. Cook everything until it starts to thicken for 3 minutes. Let it cool a bit, then fill into a sealed jar with a lid. Sauce will keep fresh in the fridge for around 2 weeks.
It makes such an amazing condiment for all your stir fry vegetables, fried rice, under 30 minutes meals. Just think of fried noodles with peanut tofu or plain tofu stir fry. So yummy.
Also great for meal prep, make ahead meals, dinner, lunch and so much more to have on hand.
Flavors of stir fry sauce:
Chinese: you can add some sriracha, ginger, and more maple to this basic sauce.
Teriyaki: I would recommend adding some sesame seeds, preferably roasted for texture so good.
Stir fry sauce without cornstarch: simply skip the cornstarch and use all the other ingredients. The sauce will turn out thinner, but that won’t change the taste.

Love seeing all your beautiful plates and remakes.
