Best Hamburger Helper
The secret ingredient for my recipe is the vegan cream cheese which I also used in my Creamy Mac and Cheese. It really makes all the difference, comes out so creamy and rich.
All comes together in one pot, so there is not much cleaning up to do.
It is packed with flavor from seasonings which make this recipe so enjoyable and satisfying.
Best of all, you get step-by-step pictures that show you everything from beginning to the final result.
What you need for this Hamburger Helper recipe
- Macaroni
- Vegan ground beef
- Vegetable broth
- Olive oil
- Hot sauce
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Paprika powder
- Mustard powder
- Tomato paste
- Vegan cheddar
- Vegan cream cheese
How to make Hamburger Helper
In a pot or pan, heat olive oil, then add vegan ground beef. Fry for 2 minutes until lightly brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Give now the uncooked macaroni to the pan, together with vegetable broth, hot sauce, mustard, garlic, onion, paprika powder and tomato paste.
Cook for around 10 minutes.
Add vegan cheddar and cream cheese and keep stirring until it is all melted.
Finally, transfer the vegan ground beef to back the pan, season with 1/2 tsp pepper and cook on medium heat for 4 minutes more. The Hamburger Helper is ready to serve on plates or in bowls.
I recommend to taste the macaroni noodles. Depending on the brand the cooking time could be a couple of minutes longer.
Note that I only add pepper here, because the vegetable broth is salty enough.
Storage and freezing
You can store leftovers of the Hamburger Helper in an airtight container in the fridge for around 4 days.
Can I freeze this?
Yes, you absolutely can. It will last for 3 months in the freezer using a freezer safe container. Allow to thaw completely before you reheat again.
