How to make Gado Gado
Bring water to a boil in a large casserole. Add the quartered potatoes and cook them for 10 minutes. Then give the green beans to the same pot and cook for another 10 minutes until both are soft. Alternatively you can steam the potatoes and beans, which will depend on your steaming device.
While both are cooking, heat a skillet with sesame oil. When it is hot, add the onions and fry them for about 10 minutes until crispy and golden.
Next and last is assembling the dish. Divide potatoes, sliced cabbage, fried onions, shredded carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, bean sprouts, chilis, and green beans in bowls or on plates. Drizzle with a good amount of Gado Gado sauce.
This makes such a fantastic option for dinner, lunch, meal prep as it is so flexible and you can make it in advance, so timesaving.
Pro tip: meal prep
As you can see surely it is made with a few more ingredients than usual, but they are so simple. Most of the ingredients can be made ahead, like shredded carrots and cabbage. Cucumbers and tomatoes also can be made easily before.
The sauce will stay fresh for around 1 week. The only things that should be prepared always fresh are the beans, potatoes, and onions.
Tip for make things even easier: make this recipe, leave out the onions, green beans and potatoes. Just mix everything else together and add the sauce, yum.
