What you need for this Dan Dan Noodles Recipe

  • Edamame beans
  • pasta, cooked (use gf, if needed)
  • Chinese sesame pasta

 

  • garlic
  • sesame oil
  • vegetable broth

How to make Dan Dan Noodles

In a pan heat oil and add garlic together with the optional mushrooms and scallions. Fry for around 3 minutes.

Give cooked pasta to the pot, add Chinese sesame paste, vegetable broth, Edamame, and the optional maple syrup, Tamari sauce, and chili powder. Cook for 8 minutes more, season with salt and pepper. 

Serve in bowls or on plates with some optional sriracha sauce.

Tips for for these Easy Dan Dan Noodles

If you can’t find Chinese sesame paste, simply use tahini and mix with 1 Tbs sesame oil. The difference is that Chinese sesame paste has more bold flavor than regular tahini. So this will work well.

Try other vegetables such as bell pepper, snap peas, or corn for more variety.

Can’t stand the heat of spicy food? Skip the optional chili powder and sriracha sauce, or use less to your preferences.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Edamame beans, cooked
  • 10 oz noodles, cooked (use gf, if needed)
  • 1 heaping Tbs Chinese sesame paste (see text for alternatives)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbs sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth
  • salt, pepper to taste

Optional add ons:

  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 bunch scallions
  • 3 Tbs Tamari sauce
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • sriracha sauce for serving
