By no means this homemade Pigs in a Blanket is an exception. Here is what is truly great about it:

Using crescent dough will save you a good amount of time. It is a great recipe for anyone that is looking even for a great snack.

Just the perfect finger food that anyone can get enough of this.

You can make bigger or smaller Pigs in a Blanket, because you can use more or less dough for your portion size. That means you will get more pieces out of this if you make them smaller. In turn, bigger will make you fewer pieces. Therefore these are anyways delicious and amazing for any occasion.

What you need for this Pigs in a Blanket recipe

Sausages: I use plant based sausage and these make a wonderful meaty and hearty texture. You can use hot dogs or something spicy. Anything what you like is great.

Crescent dough: this really comes in handy. I don’t need to make my own dough. It comes from a tube and I have it ready whenever I want. If you can’t find it, most supermarket have it, use puff pastry or even biscuit dough.

Dairy free butter: Instead of egg wash, I use dairy free butter and let me tell you something this is so delicious. It really makes everything great and the buttery flavors for what crescent dough is known really shines through the result. Alternatively you can use oat or any milk you like, but the result will be less buttery.

How to make Pigs in a Blanket

Preheat oven to 390F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Unroll crescent dough, take it out of the package and cut into triangles.

Roll the dough around the sausage and wrap them. How many you will make, depends on their size. I make bigger ones so I get about eight out of this. Place everything on your prepared baking sheet.

Brush melted butter on top and finish with a good pinch salt.

Bake pigs in a blanket for around 15 minutes.

Tips and tricks

These Pigs in a Blanket are delicious even cold and great for around 4 days.
To reheat: preheat oven to 360F and bake them for 4 minutes. Another option is the microwave, but know that will affect the texture a bit, yet still enjoyable.

What to serve with pigs in the blanket

As you know, I like to keep it really easy: mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce or Ranch Dip.

To make ahead: Wrap pigs in the blanket in crescent dough, put them in a container and store in the fridge. I would do the butter topping just before baking. Otherwise the butter will harden up.
