Why this Pizza Pie is so great

There many things what you will love about this recipe:

Using store bought pizza dough makes it so easy and convenient. You can use any favorite that you like.

Salsa is such a great shortcut ingredient, because it adds a pile of flavors right off the jar and I use it as a base instead of tomato sauce.

Olives: great saltiness and flavor.

Step by step by step pictures show everything from start to finish.

Pizza dough is put into a casserole, spread with salsa and a bit of vegan cheese.

Black beans and vegan chicken are added to the Pizza Pie.

Pizza Pie ingredients needed

  • Pizza dough
  • Salsa
  • Black beans
  • Olive oil
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Vegan chicken bites
  • Olives
  • Bell peppers
  • Jalapeno
  • Tex mex vegan shreds
  • Smoked paprika

Bell pepper, onions, and black olives are added to the Pizza Pie, then sprinkled with vegan cheese.

How to make Pizza Pie

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Start by laying the dough into a greased round casserole dish with about 10 inch diameter. Make sure to build up the edges slightly. If you have dough sticking out of the dish, cut it off with a scissor. Make sure to press the dough firmly with your hands into the casserole.

Heat olive oil in a pan and add garlic and vegan chicken bites. Season with  smoked paprika, salt and pepper and fry for around 4 minutes. Set aside.

Spread salsa on the bottom of the dough, followed by a thin cover of the vegan cheese mix. Continue with adding beans and the vegan chicken, and again a little cheese.

Finally, distribute the bell pepper, onions, jalapenos, and finally lots of Tex mex shreds. Bake for around 20 minutes.

Serve the Pizza Pie immediately, or enjoy later.

Leftover and freezing instructions

Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for around 5 days.

For freezing: Make sure to avoid freezer burns, so I recommend to double wrap your pizza pie. Use plastic wrap and it will last for 2 months in the freezer.

Variations for the pizza sauce:

Instead of salsa you can use the following sauces in the Pizza Pie, if you like:

This was delicious. For veggies, I loaded it with leeks and bell peppers. I like a little more sauce on my pizza so I combined the salsa with a 14 oz can of tomatoes. I had some sauce leftover but it will be good to add to other recipes. I will definitely be making this again.
