Is there anything better or more comforting than a spaghetti sauce?

I don’t think so. Especially not, if you can prepare it with clear instructions and a step-by-step picture guide. No complicated preparation or exotic ingredients needed!

This one really knocks it out of the park. I made it 4 times last week alone and that must mean something.

Just imagine the sauce simmering on your stove top filling the kitchen with a delicious aroma.

If you follow along you know that I have made many recipes for pasta sauces like this Lemon Pasta Sauce, the Alfredo Sauce, or my Puttanesca Sauce.

They make any pasta better by adding a ton of flavor, even better with leftover pasta.

Onions and garlic are sauteed first in a small sauce pan, then tomato sauce is added.

Why this is the best Spaghetti Sauce

The standout feature of this sauce is that it is so rich in flavor thanks to three types of tomatoes used: chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste. In combination these create an amazing texture and taste.

Step by step pictures make it even easier to prepare, so you can have your new favorite ready in no time.

It is all about the taste: I use onions, garlic, Italian herbs and red pepper flakes to make it ultra delicious.

You can use this for any pasta you like. Beside that, it is also great for lasagna, pizza, casserole and anything you can think of.

How to make Spaghetti Sauce

Heat olive oil in a pan. When hot, add diced onions and sliced garlic and fry both for around 3 minutes until golden brown.

Give chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste as well as the red pepper flakes and Italian herbs  to the pan. Mix well and season with salt and pepper.

Let everything simmer on medium heat with a lid on top for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally, then serve over cooked pasta.

Storage and Freezing

Leftovers will last in the fridge for around 5 days.

To freeze, make sure to let the sauce cool completely. Add to individual portion size freezer bags or a bigger container to your preferences. It will last for 3 months in the freezer.

Thaw completely before reheating, then use medium or low heat until it is nicely warmed. You can use the stove or microwave for it.

Fresh parsley is used as garnish over the spaghetti.

What’s the difference between Spaghetti Sauce and marinara?

Marinara is thinner than Spaghetti Sauce and has only seasonings.

Spaghetti sauce on the other hand has additional onions, can be made with mushrooms or bell peppers.

Basically, you can add anything you like and give it a more robust flavor than marinara.
