Sauce pan full of tagiatelle soaked in white wine sauce.

Trust me, from the first bite you will fall in love with the taste and have no idea it is dairy free and even gluten free.

From time to time I like to use cooking wine for pasta sauces like in this Marsala Sauce.

If you have not tried it yet, I highly recommend to do so. It should become a staple for your under 20 minus meals, it’s just so good.

How to make a White Wine Pasta Sauce

First in sauce pan, heat a bit of oil, vegan butter, or vegetable broth if you’re into oil free cooking. Now add minced garlic and fry for around 3 minutes.

Slowly add oat cream, white wine, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper. Cook everything for around 5 minutes and you are done.

Serve over pasta or rice, or use as dipping sauce for bread and enjoy.

Note: If you can’t find oat cream, any plant milk will also work. Just think of coconut milk, almond, or cashew milk. I suggest to add cornstarch or tapioca starch optionally if sauce is too thin. Something like this can happen if you use almond milk because it is thinner than oat cream.

Start with 2 tsp starch and 4 tsp water and mix, go from there until you reach the desired texture.

The White Wine Sauce makes such a delicious pasta sauce for dinner, lunch, meal prep for make ahead, over potatoes, roasted vegetables and so much more.

Enjoy a nice dinner for two.

White wine for cooking

I find white wine is best cooking wine as it makes the best taste. But if you want to try something different, I find this article about “The 5 Best White Wines for Cooking” a great place to start

Variations and suggestions for this pasta sauce recipe:

Lemon white wine sauce: at the end just add 1/4 cup lemon juice.

How about a light pasta side dish? Just replace the oat cream with almond milk and add 2 tsp corn starch + 4 tsp water for mixing as described above.

Spaghetti with garlic and butter: leave the oat cream out and replace with 5 Tbs vegan butter. So simple and good with my own Garlic Butter.
